I want to update my INBOX without having to re-sign in. I am using a
pop3 account and I wonder about it.

You could use fetchmail to fetch the mail and put into the inbox.
Fetchmail will work in the background. Fetchmail is a separate program,
and does not belong to pine.

There are two different methods:

1. If you want yo leave your e-mail in the server, add that inbox as an
incoming folder, and do not make it your inbox. That way, when you
come back to that folder, fresh information will be available to you.

2. If you want your mail to be saved into your computer use a maildrop.
That way new mail notification will be immediate.

I have information in my web page on how to configure each of these. For
incoming folders check

http://staff.washington.edu/chappa/pine/pine-info/collections/incoming-folders/

For maildrops check

http://staff.washington.edu/chappa/pine/pine-info/maildrop/

I hope this information will be useful to you.
